No time to say hello, goodbye...
      Superfast today.  Really.
    - Parents of truants rounded up, threatened. No, really. On any given school day, 10% of Philadelphia students are absent without excuses, and Street is trying tough love.
 - Milton Street pleads not guilty, gets fingerprinted, taking a quiet approach. YPP folks talk over how to hold officials accountable once you vote apparent "good guys" into office.
 - Tom Knox announces for mayor to token crowd. More details and background here.
 - Speaking of the mayoral race, the Fraternal Order of Police promises to work against Fattah over his past support of perpetually divisive Mumia Abu-Jamal.
 - Newspapers not on strike, although negotiations are still rocky.  No idea what the new do-or-die timepoint would be.
 - Council tweaks smoking ban, handily passing DiCicco's complement to the original legislation.
 - Council also considering making Inspector General more independent of the Mayor, Council, et al. Current IG Seth Williams supports such a move.
 - Not thrilled with the new casino unlimited liquor law (see yesterday) and related developments: John Grogan, the Inquirer editorial page, the Daily News opinion page (which actually raises a financial issue), and Elmer Smith (at least, I think this is a negative view)...
