Another new era for the Philly papers
Hard to know yet what all this will mean. Tierney was no great gift to the city, especially since he took on so much debt to buy the papers that he bankrupted the place, even though the newspapers themselves continue to show a small profit every year. The return of a longtime local publisher seems good, but being run by hedge funds could mean a lot of decisions that favor profit issues over news coverage we can be proud of. Will have to see how it all plays out.
